K-On!: Hirasawa Yui 05

k-on! cosplay - hirasawa yui 5 by yivonYui has a habit of naming and talking to inanimate objects as if they were people; a trend that gradually included her bandmates and their instruments. She has named her guitar as “Gita”, Mio’s Bass as “Elizabeth” without Mio’s permission which annoyed her at first. Later, Nakano Azusa caught on and considered naming her own guitar “Muttan”.

Cute Yui by Singaporean cosplayer, Yivon! Yukino, the contributor, estimates Yivon to be around 13 years-old. Should I add this to the Chibi Section, I wonder? Thanks again to Yukino for sending this!

K-On!: Hirasawa Yui 04

k-on! cosplay - hirasawa yui 04A hard-worker when it comes to her guitar playing, Hirasawa Yui can have incredible focus when she has a clear goal in sight. Unfortunately, this is limited to only one subject as a time. In one incident, Yui had to make up for her test scores in math and while she was able to bring her skills up to par, her guitar skills deteriorated quickly. Nevertheless, Yui plays her guitar with amazing energy and joy, much to the delight of her audience.

This is pretty awesome! And if she’s willing to share, I’d like a donut too please!

K-On!: Nakano Azusa 03

k-on! cosplay - nakano azusa 03Azusa looks up to Mio from the light music club due to her maturity and experience as a bassist. Once, she even tried to give Mio chocolate for Valentine’s Day. However, she sometimes unintentionally points out Mio’s weaknesses, such as her weight. She also thinks Mugi is very beautiful, envious of her hair and large eyes.

To be honest, Azusa has nothing to be envious of. She herself is very talented and cute, right? Thanks to MP Zero for the awesome photography and also to Ange for the contribution!

K-On!: Hirasawa Yui 03

k-on! cosplay - hirasawa yui 03 by shinjo mayuThe clumsy, lead vocalist of the light music club, Yui is easily distracted by trivialities especially when it comes to cute and adorable things. She does not get good grades in school, but is able to achieve astounding results when coached properly. She also has a huge liking for any kind of food and never gains weight, much to the envy of Mugi, Mio, and Sawako.

Mangaka Shinjo Mayu is the cosplayer behind this adorable Yui! And according to Pinch, the contributor, Mayu-tan is actually 37-years-young in this photo! I bet a lot of girls are jealous now. Thanks again, Pinch!

K-On!: Nakano Azusa 02

k-on! cosplay - nakano azusa 02 from comiket 2010A self-proclaimed novice guitarist, Azusa has been playing the guitar since 4th grade. She is in the same year and class as Yui’s sister, Ui, and joins the light music club as their rhythm guitarist.

Although she does not understand the club’s tea parties and cosplaying activities, she has a weakness for cakes and therefore deals with them. Yui nicknamed her “Azu-nyan” after she tried on a pair of cat ears and meowed, and the fact that she could be calmed down at times just by petting.

Cute cosplay! And are those Touhou Project characters I see in the background? Thanks again to Yula for this photo!

K-On!: Akiyama Mio, Nakano Azusa, and Hirasawa Yui

k-on! cosplay - akiyama mio, nakano azusa, and hirasawa yui from comiket 2010

Mio, Azusa, and Yui are all members of the light music club of their school. Mio plays a left-handed, 3-Color Sunburst Fender Jazz Bass with a tortoiseshell pickguard, though she was seen playing a Fender Precision Bass in the manga's first volume. Azusa is a rhythm guitarist who plays a Fender Mustang electric guitar. Yui, the main vocalist of the group, plays a Heritage Cherry Sunburst Gibson Les Paul Standard electric guitar that she nicknames "Gita".

Aren’t they just adorable? I think I especially love Yui in this group photo. Who is your favorite? And thanks to Yula for sending this in!
